Bit the Bullet

Guilty

My subscription to Ulysses expires in six months. I do like it but I am starting to resent the subscription model. How much improvement will I ever need that would justify $50+ every year? So like many others, I have decided to switch. I used to use Scrivener for everything but am finding I like iA Writer for its markdown support and direct publishing to Medium.

So at this point, even though I have the free months of Ulysses left, I will stop using it and stick with iA for now. That way I won’t be faced with the task of tranferring everything out of Ulysses when the subscription ends.

Another advantage will be the lack of distraction trying to decide every day whether to write in Ulysses or iA.

In keeping with this decision, I have cancelled my subscription to Evernote. It isn’t that I can’t afford either one. It’s just a matter of principle. Ulysses and Evernote are good, but not that good.

I’m sure it won’t be long before I start regretting these decisions.
